Mahncke Park
Mahncke Park takes its name from Ludwig Mahncke, a San Antonio hotelier and city council member who became parks commissioner in 1901. In 1899 he encouraged George W. Brackenridge to donate 199 acres along the San Antonio River for Brackenridge Park, and Brackenridge later donated the park named in Mahncke's honor, where a bust of him now stands.
